He also displayed impressive leadership qualities throughout, helping turn the Tigers’ fortunes around with his fierce desire to succeed.
This was in stark contrast to Rance’s image as Richmond’s ‘court jester’, and has prompted speculation about him officially joining the Club’s playing leadership group for 2015.
“I see myself as a leader already. I train and drive the standards as well as anyone, without being too big-headed or anything like that,” Rance said in a ‘Roar Vision’ interview with Tiger great Matthew Richardson.
“I’m always saying a few wrong things in meetings and piping up when I probably shouldn’t.
“It keeps the humor wheel rolling . . . But on-field is my go, probably not so much off-field.”
