Tiger tall Ben Griffiths will likely avoid surgery after dislocating his right shoulder in Sunday’s VFL match against Collingwood.
Griffiths will undergo a rehab program, with the length of his time on the sidelines yet to be determined.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury early in Sunday’s two-point loss to Collingwood VFL at the Swinburne Centre and did not return to the field.
It was Griffiths second game back after repeated concussions.
Richmond’s general manager of football Neil Balme said it was disappointing for the tall forward, who made a strong return for the VFL Tigers in Round 13.
“The Club’s medical and fitness staff have done a great job managing Ben this year and they will continue to work closely with him during his rehab,” Balme said.
“Ben is a very determined person and we hope to see him back on the track soon.”
Midfielder Anthony Miles will be a test this week after he was a late withdrawal from Richmond’s Round 18 AFL side.
Miles suffered a minor medial ligament sprain to his right knee in the lead up to last Sunday’s 19-point win over GWS at the MCG.
