Jack Ross will return to Richmond’s starting line-up for tomorrow night’s crunch clash with an in-form Brisbane at the Gabba.

Ross, who was in the side as an unused medical substitute in last week’s thrilling win over GWS, comes in for young defender Rhyan Mansell who has been managed.

Speaking to the media yesterday, coach Damien Hardwick said the coaching staff had been keen to find a spot for Ross.

“It has been unfortunate for Jack; he has been well and truly in our best 22 or 23 players, but he has been the sub a number of times (five),” he explained.

“We want to give him that opportunity. We just have to make sure we give him the right opportunity.”

The Lions snapped a 15-match winless streak against Richmond in last year’s Qualifying Final and have found form again in 2021, winning their last five matches after a slow start.

“They (Brisbane) are a quality established side now that has been playing together for a large period of time, and they are only going to get better,” Hardwick said.

“Playing on their home deck it is going to be tough, but we like playing up there as well.”

The clash will be Richmond’s first at the Gabba since the historic night Grand Final win in October last year, though injuries have presented an opportunity for a fresh crop of Tigers to play on the big stage this time around.

“The positive for us is we have found some players,” Hardwick said.

“Riley Collier-Dawkins I thought was terrific again last week (and) Hugo Ralphsmith showed he is going to be a player for the future.

“We are really excited to be giving these guys an opportunity. It has been a little bit of a painful ride along the way, but we have found some solid gems out of it.”

Josh Caddy, Will Martyn, Callum Coleman-Jones and Thomson Dow have been named as the emergencies, with one to be elevated to medical substitute 60 minutes before the opening bounce.

Tomorrow night’s clash commences at 7.50pm and will be broadcast live on Channel 7, FOX FOOTY, and Kayo.
