A group of emerging Indigenous and multicultural footballers returned to Richmond’s Punt Road Oval for a three-day training camp last week.

As part of the Club’s Next Generation Academy Program, the Richmond Academy, 17 young footballers covered off strength and skills sessions, nutrition, as well as game sense and goal setting.

The group attended a screening at the Club in November, and returned on Monday, January 23 to further their skills and knowledge.

A focus of the program is also to instill the Richmond Academy values and behaviour on the group.

Newly appointed Richmond Academy coach Damien Villarosa said the participants travelled from all across northern Victoria.

“We saw significant improvement in all of the participants,” Villarosa said.

“They trained hard over the three days and their passion for the game is evident.

“Some of them travelled quite a distance to attend the camp, showing great commitment.

“We look forward to working with them over the coming months and hope to see them continue to develop.”

The group included: Ajak Dang, Mesang Dang, Achoung Agog, Kris Pele (Mooroopna), David Smith, Kyle Clarke, Anthony Walker (Shepparton), Raman Winmar, Marcus Kerr, Will Dwyer (Rumbalara), Rhys Damon (Katandra), Phillip Moimoi (Robinvale), Kobe Brown, Peter Clarke (Mildura), Kailen Walker (Red Cliffs), Nathan Louw (Swan Hill), Hakeem Johnson (Bendigo).
