Dylan Grimes was an especially welcome addition to the Richmond line-up for last Saturday night’s clash with Greater Western Sydney at Marvel Stadium.
The top-class, triple premiership Tiger defender, who returned after missing the Round 8 match against Geelong because of concussion, played a vital role in the rousing four-point victory over the Giants.
He provided his trademark generalship across the backline, had a season-high 15 disposals, along with five marks, an equal game-high eight intercepts and seven one-percenters, and defended stoutly right throughout the match.
Grimes’ elite defensive qualities really came to the fore in the frenetic final moments of the game with his desperate dive right on the goal-line that prevented what would have been the match-winning goal for GWS.
It was a classic piece of goalkeeping that again showed why Dylan Grimes is worth his weight in gold for the Tigers.
