Richmond coach Damien Hardwick believes the Tigers are better placed and better prepared for this year's preliminary final after last year's shock loss to Collingwood.
Hardwick said the Tigers, who bombed out of last year's premiership race against the Magpies after a dominant season, will hit the preliminary final in strong shape.
"I think we're certainly better prepared," he said on Thursday.
"I think I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. He's a great player, he's a big-game player. But he's also coming off a pretty significant injury as well, so we'll cross our fingers and hope he gets through," he said.
"If we get to make that decision it's a good one [we have] to make."
The return of a key midfielder is set to bolster Richmond's Round 4 team against Brisbane at home.
