Josh Caddy strongly pushed his case for selection in Richmond’s team for the 2021 season-opener against Carlton with an excellent performance in last Friday night’s AAMI Community Series victory over Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.
The dual premiership Tiger, who missed last year’s Grand Final triumph, was one of the best players afield in the pre-season encounter.
He had 27 disposals, six inside-50s, six score involvements, seven intercepts, took 11 marks and kicked a goal in his wing role.
That followed his top-notch, two-goal display the previous week in the practice match against Melbourne at Casey Fields.
Caddy, 28, played eight games in the 2020 season, with the last of those being in the final home-and-away round against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. He was a valuable contributor for the Tigers in that match, kicking two goals playing as a forward, but subsequently lost his place in the line-up.
Given how impressive his pre-season form this year has been, however, it seems highly likely he will return to the senior side for the Round 1 clash.
