Tom Lynch and Marlion Pickett have become members of an extremely exclusive club at Richmond following the 2020 Grand Final triumph.

The pair join Dan Minogue, Ernie Taylor and Robert McGhie as dual premiership players in their first two years with the Tigers.

Robust ruckman Minogue, who crossed from Collingwood to Richmond as captain-coach, played in the Tigers’ back-to-back premiership teams of 1920-1921.

Taylor, a defender, also was part of Richmond’s flag sides across those two seasons, having made his VFL debut in 1920.

McGhie transferred to Tigerland in 1973 after a 37-game career with Footscray over the course of four seasons. He went on to play a significant role in the Club’s 1973-1974 back-to-back premiership teams at centre half-back.

Star key forward Lynch, a restricted free agent acquisition for Richmond from Gold Coast at the end of the 2018 season, starred for the Tigers in their 2019 premiership year, kicking 63 goals. And he was a valuable contributor throughout the 2020 season, as Richmond made it back-to-back flags for just the third time in its history.

Pickett, a mature-age, skilful utility player, made a fantastic, fairytale debut with the Tigers in their 2019 Grand Final demolition of Greater Western Sydney after being recruited from WAFL club South Fremantle during the AFL mid-season draft that year. Just 19 games later, Pickett became a dual Richmond premiership player, when the Tigers defeated Geelong in the 2020 Grand Final.
