Talented Richmond small forward Daniel Rioli enhanced his finals-football goalkicking reputation in last Friday night’s qualifying final against Brisbane at the Gabba.
Rioli kicked an equal team-high two goals in the Tigers’ 15-point loss, with only Lions small forward Charlie Cameron (three goals) scoring more throughout the match.
In nine AFL finals so far, Rioli has booted 12 goals, at an average of 1.4 per match. His overall goals average across 92 games is 0.9.
It was the fourth time Rioli has finished with multiple goals in a final, with his best performance being four in Richmond’s 2017 preliminary final victory over Greater Western Sydney.
He kicked three goals in the Tigers’ 2018 qualifying final win against Hawthorn, two in last year’s qualifying final success against the Lions, and one in the 2019 Grand Final triumph.
