Richmond star defender Nick Vlastuin continues to strongly press his claims for an inaugural All-Australian blazer this year.

Vlastuin again was one of the Tigers’ best in the 27-point victory over Fremantle at Metricon Stadium last Wednesday night, finishing with 17 disposals, an equal game-high nine intercepts, four rebound-50s, three score involvements, three tackles, an equal game-high eight marks and 287 metres gained.

That top-class performance, in the 100th win of his senior playing career with Richmond, earned him an equal team-high four votes for the round in the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Champion Player of the Year award.

The 26-year-old veteran of 155 AFL games is averaging 14.4 disposals, 5.7 marks, 4.1 rebound-50s, 7.4 intercepts and 275.6 metres gained per match so far this season.

He is currently ranked No.1 in the competition for intercepts and No. 14 for marks.
