Skilful, speedy small Richmond defender Jayden Short maintained his impressively high level of performance this season throughout last Wednesday night’s clash with Fremantle at Metricon Stadium.
Short had a team-high 23 disposals, four rebound-50s, five intercepts, 439 metres gained and took an equal game-high eight marks in the Tigers’ 27-point win.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick paid tribute to Short in his post-match media conference.
“He was terrific,” Hardwick said.
“He’s a really important player to us. He runs and carries the ball really well, uses it well.
“He’s had a bit of a standout year. . .
“You know, he’s still got some areas of his game that we’d love him to improve, and he knows that. But he’s had a terrific season thus far.”
The 2019 premiership Tiger is averaging 19.1 disposals, 5.9 marks, 4.1 rebound-50s, 3.9 intercepts, 3.0 score involvements and 456.7 metres gained per match this season.
Currently, he is ranked No. 1 in the competition for metres gained, No. 1 for bounces, No. 2 for kicks, No. 5 for marks, No. 8 for effective disposals and No. 9 for rebound-50s.
