Richmond’s VFL affiliate, Coburg, will play two if its 2012 home games in Victorian regional areas.
The Coburg Tigers have been scheduled to play the Bendigo Bombers at Shepparton’s Deakin Reserve in Round 11 on Sunday, June 10, and Geelong at Warrnambool’s Reid Oval, in Round 14 on Sunday, July 1.
It’s all part of a push by Coburg, with Richmond’s backing, for greater exposure and to push the VFL brand in traditionally strong country football markets.
In the 2012 VFL fixture announced this week, Coburg will also play two home games at Craigieburn’s Highgate Recreation Reserve (against Box Hill Hawks in Round 6 and Frankston in Round 20).
The Coburg Tigers kick off their 2012 campaign with a home game against the Northern Blues on Saturday, March 24.
Coburg has the bye in Rounds 4, 10, 15 and 22.
