Richmond’s VFL affiliate Coburg will play its first of two home games for the 2012 season in regional Victoria next week.

Coburg takes on Bendigo at Deakin Reserve, Shepparton, at 1pm on Sunday, June 10, in a big Round 11 VFL clash.

It will be Coburg’s first game for three weeks, due to the VFL State game against Tasmania on May 26 and then a bye the following week.

Coburg General Manager McCauley said Richmond had embraced Coburg’s venture to play home games at regional venues, while communities and clubs were excited at the prospect of seeing state-league football.

“It’s a really good opportunity for us and for Richmond,” he said.

“We know from Richmond’s membership hotspot they’ve got about 1600 members or registered supporters up in Shepparton and a few at Warrnambool, so we know we’re going to be very well supported and it’s a good opportunity for the Coburg Football Club to build its brand.”

The Club’s second regional home game for the season will be against Geelong at Warrnambool’s Reid Oval on Sunday, July 1.
