Development coach, David Newett, provides a summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed at AFL level with Coburg in last Sunday’s clash with the Northern Bullants . . .

Shane Tuck  (11 kicks, 23 handballs, 5 marks)
Another solid performance.  Gathered the majority of his possessions around stoppages.  Worked hard throughout the game and again stepped up to provide leadership in the last quarter, with the game hanging in the balance.

Ben Nason  (8 kicks, 7 handballs, 2 marks)
Was relatively quiet, but impacted the game when using his pace to advantage.

David Gourdis  (11 kicks, 9 handballs, 5 marks)
Started in defence, but was outpointed by the experienced Carlton-listed Bret Thornton.  Was shifted forward later in the game and got involved in some scoring chains towards the end.

Andrew Browne  (10 kicks, 7 handballs, 4 marks)
Another solid performance in the ruck.  Worked hard around the ground, providing a contest in defence and a target up forward.  Had 19 hit-outs and 17 possessions, which was a good return.

Jayden Post  (11 kicks, 3 handballs, 11 marks)
Played his best game for Coburg.  Took several strong, contested marks and showed versatility, impacting at both ends of the ground.

Matt Dea  (5 kicks, 2 handballs, 4 marks)
Played his defensive role extremely well to nullify the Bullants’ dangerous small forward Ahmed Saad.  Used his possessions to the team’s advantage.

Robbie Hicks  (6 kicks, 2 handballs, 2 marks)
Was quiet early, but got involved as the match wore on.  Provided great energy in the forward line, kicking two goals and having a hand in other scoring opportunities.

Jeromey Webberley  (17 kicks, 6 handballs, 6 marks)
Was again prominent.  Accumulated plenty of possessions and used them to the team’s advantage.

Pat Contin  (7 kicks, 5 handballs, 4 marks)
Spent the majority of the game forward.  Had some good involvement centre forward and finished with a goal.

Mitch Morton  (16 kicks, 11 handballs, 5 marks)
Used his experience to help the team get back into the contest.  Was moved into defence late in the game and provided effective rebound.

Mitch Farmer  (5 kicks, 1 handball, 3 marks)
Had some good touches in his first game for the season.  Adjusting to his role as a forward and will be better for the run.

Tom Derickx  (6 kicks, 5 handballs, 4 marks)
Also made his first appearance for the season and got better as the match went on.  Took some strong marks and provided the team’s midfielders with first use of the ball when in the ruck.

Dean MacDonald  (Coburg reserves)
Was lively, but needs to improve his fitness levels to provide more opportunities.

Nick Westhoff  (Coburg reserves)
His work rate and intensity early in the game was good, which led to one of his best performances for Coburg.  Took several strong marks, kicked four goals, and contributed to some others.
