Richmond will know in less than 24 hours if Port Adelaide has decided to match the offer it put to Troy Chaplin earlier this week.

On Monday afternoon, the Tigers made an official offer to the 26-year-old defender, who is a restricted free agent.

Port Adelaide released a statement earlier today, indicating it was “considering its position” with regards to that offer.

In that same statement, the Power announced it would not be matching the offer Fremantle put to Danyle Pearce.

Under Free Agency rules, league clubs have three days to match an offer put to a restricted free agent.

If the club matches the offer, the player has the option to stay, or push for a move to the club of his choice via a trade or the draft system.
