Who said there are no Tigers in Africa . . ?

There are now, thanks to the work of “Hands at Work in Africa”, supported by the Richmond Football Club.

Hands at Work in Africa is a non-government organisation that looks after orphaned children in African communities.

Late last year, a team of nine Australians, involved with Hands at Work in Africa, spent several weeks in the Zambian town of Lyanshya.

Following a donation request from Hands at Work in Africa representative, Ben Reeve, Richmond’s Reception/Administration Officer, Dehanne Miles, arranged for Tiger shirts, caps, scarves, footballs and other Club apparel to be sent to 40 orphans being cared for at a special Lyanshya camp.

“The orphans were so grateful to receive the items of clothing,” Reeve said.

“There were tears of joy on the faces of those who have very little.  Such a special moment for them to get these gifts . . .

“Some of the boys ran around roaring like tigers when they got their hats.  They struggled with the footballs, as they are used to soccer balls, but had lots of fun chasing after them.

“Many thanks to Dehanne for arranging this donation on behalf of the Richmond Football Club.  It was certainly worth it from our perspective.”
