King accepts one week ban
Richmond forward Jake King will miss the opening round of the 2011 season after accepting a one-week suspension.
King was charged with a Level One striking offence during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s match at Etihad Stadium.
The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 80 demerit points and a reprimand.
He has a total of three matches suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 30 per cent to 104 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He also has 41.80 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 145.80 points and a one-match sanction.
An early plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent to 109.35 points and a one-match sanction.
