“The FTF is about the future of our Club,” Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said.
“The brutal fact is, that right now, our debt position means we are unlikely to deliver the critical resources required to win premierships. A rapidly-changing AFL marketplace also sees us entering the most competitive era in the game’s history.
“This investment will deliver on-field success which will, in turn, drive a business that can be effectively managed to ensure Richmond’s long-term re-emergence as a league powerhouse.
“I look forward to the day we can stand as one at Punt Road Oval and share the spoils of the ultimate success.”
The investment in football will cover six main areas:
- Allow the Club to pay 100% of the salary cap and position ourselves favourably for the introduction of free agency
- Allow the Club to field a stand-alone reserves’ side
- An expansion of the full-time coaching panel
- Develop a more robust high-performance program
- Develop and expanded recruiting and list analysis structure
- Complete the re-configuration of Punt Road Oval
“Richmond has a range of assets that provide a wonderful foundation for us to build upon,” Gale said.
“To complete the picture, we must remove debt and provide football with the resources to give our young group the best possible chance of succeeding.
“We simply must make our move NOW or risk condemning ourselves to mediocrity in an increasingly competitive market.”
