Triple Brisbane premiership defender and current Richmond assistant coach Justin Leppitsch has praised key Tiger backman Alex Rance for his match-saving, final-quarter performance against Greater Western Sydney in last Saturday’s Round 12 clash.

“I thought Alex was terrific with the way he repeatedly managed to win the ball back for us in dangerous situations and kill the contests.

“He had seven ‘possession-gains’ in that final term, which is a huge ‘stat’.

“Time and again, he got himself into position to repel the opposition, and there’s no doubt he was a decisive factor in us getting over the line.”

Rance had his colors lowered the previous round against Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich, who kicked six goals in a match-winning performance, but when the going was at its toughest last Saturday, the 22-year-old responded superbly.
