Promising, key-position prospect, David Astbury, has signed a two-year contract extension with Richmond.

The new deal means Astbury will remain at Tigerland at least until the end of the 2014 season.

“We’re very pleased to see Dave re-committing to the Club, as he is highly regarded, not only for his football ability, but also his excellent character,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.

“After a bad run with injury, he’s now fit and really looking forward to a full pre-season.

“We expect him to come on in leaps and bounds throughout 2013.”

Astbury made a solid return to the playing field this year, after dislocating his knee cap midway through the 2011 season.

He produced some good form at VFL level with Coburg, and then forced his way back into the Richmond side for the final two home-and-away games.

The 195cm, 93kg, 21-year-old has played 24 league games all-up since debuting with the Tigers in 2010.
