Richmond has joined the football world in mourning the passing of Darrel Baldock . . .

The Tigers CEO Brendon Gale paid special tribute to the Australian Football Hall of Fame Legend, who died this week (February 2), aged 72, in Tasmania.

“As a kid growing up in Tasmania, like so many, I was spell-bound by this man, who was such a giant of the game,” Gale said.

“In fact, he was so big, he actually assumed mythical proportions, with everything he’d achieved and how brilliantly he’d done it.

“Years later, I got to meet him, and he was just a lovely man. He was so humble, always had time for you, took an interest in what you were doing, and was just great company.

“On behalf of the Club, I’d like to extend sincere condolences to Darrel’s family, friends and the St Kilda Football Club.”

Young Tiger star forward, Jack Riewoldt, also has paid tribute to Darrel Baldock on his Twitter account.
Riewoldt, a proud Tasmanian, tweeted: “Sad to hear Tasmanian and St Kilda great Darrel Baldock passed away. Coached my dad and will by sadly missed by the tas footy community".
