Richmond has re-signed key position player Luke McGuane, ruckman Tom Derickx and speedster Matt White for the 2013 season.

The announcement of the trio’s contract extensions comes before tomorrow’s first list lodgement with the AFL.

McGuane will enter his eighth season in the AFL in 2013, after reinventing himself as a forward in the second half of last season.

The 25-year-old played his first game of the 2012 season in Round 15, but did not relinquish his spot in the side for the rest of the year.

With Ty Vickery out injured, McGuane filled the breach, kicking 15 goals in nine matches, including two bags of three.

White’s 2012 season was a mixed bag, but his speed and defensive pressure were important to the team in the latter stages of the year.

The 25-year-old played a total of seven games for the season, with his best performance coming against Fremantle in Round 20, when he gathered 20 disposals and kicked one of the goals of the season.

Derickx, 24, was cruelled by injuries in his debut season at Tigerland in 2011, and made great strides in the VFL this season before forcing his way into the seniors in Round 15.

The athletic 201cm ruckman also showed glimpses of his ability to play in defence or attack in 2012.
