Many decades before Dustin Martin's Yellow and Black dominance, there was another player with the same surname who carved out a highly-impressive career at Richmond. Ray Martin (not to be confused with the latter-day TV personality), a star rover, played 159 games and kicked 135 goals for the Tigers from 1930-1940.

He was a key member of Richmond's 1932 and 1934 premiership teams and formed a great partnership with dynamic Tiger ruck duo Percy Bentley and Jack Dyer. Here Ray Martin is pictured in full flight during a match against the Tigers' arch-rival Collingwood at Punt Road.
