Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale and talented defender Alex Rance attended the annual Indian Diwali (Divali) festival at Melbourne’s Federation Square on Saturday.

Gale and Rance spent the afternoon at Diwali, a festival of lights, observed on the 15th day of the month of Kartika in the Hindu calendar.

There were approximately 20,000 people in attendance to celebrate the festival, with many taking the opportunity to have a photo or grab an autograph from the Richmond pair.

Gale addressed the crowd on stage, and discussed Richmond’s support of the Indian community.

He also announced the Club’s support of the newly formed Masala Football Club, a predominantly Indian football team based in Dandenong. The team will play in the Victorian Amateur Football Association, from 2013.

The Masala Football Club is currently recruiting players for the 2013 season. Click here to view their website.

The Club congratulates Celebrate India (celebrateindia.org.au) for hosting a successful Diwali festival at Federation square.
