Tiger cubs get stuck in

There was no easing into pre-season training for the young Richmond players, who started their 2013 campaign yesterday.
According to highly-promising defender, Dylan Grimes, it was an intense first-up session for the Club’s players with 1-3 years’ AFL experience, who were the first group to return, to start the Tigers’ pre-season.
“It’s really good to be back. We got into the routine of things pretty early this morning . . . we got flogged actually,” Grimes told “Roar Vision”.
“We went straight into weights training and then max. testing, just to see where we were at, and if we’d dropped off over the break. Then it was straight into a pretty solid boxing session and circuit after that.”
It’s Richmond’s first pre-season under the guidance of the Club’s new Elite Performance Manager, Peter Burge, and changes are already evident . . .
“We had a quick rundown this morning and it’s actually quite a bit different to what we’ve been used to,” Grimes said.
“There’s a lot to take in, but ‘Burgey’ has been really good so far at running us through, step by step, of what we’ve got in store.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing the new faces down the Club in the next couple of weeks and building on our training.”
Grimes, who again was hampered with injury problems throughout the 2012 season, is raring to go at the start of the pre-season period.
“I’m back to 100% -- better than 100%, actually. I didn’t miss a session over the off-season and I’ll be back training with the main group from here on in. So, it’s really positive signs through the hamstrings at the moment.”
