Richmond key position prospect Ben Griffiths is as buoyant as ever that he can make an impact on the field for the Tigers.

The 20-year-old, who has been frustrated by injuries in his first two years at Tigerland, has managed more pre-season hours on the training track, and in the gym, than ever before.

“At the moment I’m probably feeling as strong as I have since I’ve been here, and strength wise I think I’m a lot bigger,” he said.

“I want to start pushing it a bit more, so I can get out there quicker.

“I want to get the continuity in my training, which I haven’t had over the last two years.  Hopefully it’s a sign of good things to come.”

Griffiths has been forced to deal with the frustration of injury, from the moment he arrived at Punt Road at the end of 2009.

He played four games in his debut season, and added another five in 2011.

“In my first year here, when I did my shoulder, that was disappointing,” he told Roar Vision.

“It set me back for last year as well.  Looking back now, it probably impacted me a lot more than I first thought when I was back out there playing.

“It was just something I didn’t plan on, and something I didn’t need.

“But the support we get from the coaches is second to none.  You’ve always got someone to talk to.  We’ve got a really good set up here.”
