Gun Richmond midfielder Brett Deledio will watch tonight’s Brownlow Medal count from his lounge-room, as he recovers from post-season knee surgery.

The 25-year-old, who is rated one of the Tigers’ best chances to capture the award for the competition’s Fairest and Best player, has been granted a medical exemption from the AFL after undergoing a minor operation last week.

Trent Cotchin, Ivan Maric, Shane Tuck, Jack Riewoldt and Chris Newman are representing the Club at tonight’s gala event at Crown Palladium.

Deledio and fellow midfielder Cotchin are expected to attract plenty of votes, after stellar seasons in 2012.

The pair earned selection in the 2012 AFL All Australian team, and Deledio was runner-up to Cotchin in this year’s Jack Dyer Medal.

Cotchin is currently listed as third favourite to win the Brownlow Medal with Luxbet.com, at $4.50, behind Gold Coast’s Gary Ablett and Essendon’s Jobe Watson, while Deledio is the next favoured Richmond player, at $201.
