Richmond has a not-so-secret weapon, which is striking fear into the hearts and minds of opposition teams . . .
It’s the Tiger Army, that loyal, loud and large number of supporters flocking to the Club’s games this season.
In Round 6, Richmond broke its all-time attendance record for a match against Brisbane, when 37,438 turned up at the MCG to see the Tigers win by 24 points.

Then, last Saturday at the ‘G’, the Tigers smashed their previous highest crowd figure against Fremantle in Melbourne of 26,219, with 34,090 watching them run away to an impressive 49-point victory over the Dockers.
Coach Damien Hardwick, in this week’s message to Richmond members said: “I was privileged to play in premierships at two great clubs, but I’ve never heard anything like the roar of the Tiger Army! The noise they made last Saturday night, especially in the last quarter when we had our tails up, was just unbelievable. They really do act as a 19th man for our side - and I don’t say that lightly! When we get that momentum up and going, the roar that comes from the Punt Road end is truly amazing . . .”
The influence of the Tiger Army has not been lost on opposition coaches either . . .
After Richmond’s Round 2 draw with St Kilda at the MCG, the Saints’ coach Ross Lyon had this to say in his post-match press conference: “I thought we were game to come back when they had full momentum and the Tiger roar happening in the background.”
And, then, following last Saturday’s loss to the Tigers, Fremantle coach Mark Harvey at his post-match press conference said: “When you’ve got a crowd like a Richmond crowd, they get involved. And, we were trying to take that away from Richmond, but we just couldn’t . . .”
