In an exclusive ‘Roar Vision’ interview with Richmond great Matthew Richardson, current-day Tiger star Brett Deledio was asked his opinion of two of the Club’s exciting, young midfield prospects – Brandon Ellis and Nick Vlastuin. Here is Deledio’s insightful appraisal of the pair of talented Tiger cubs . . .
Deledio on Ellis
“I love the way that Brandon wants to learn and get better as a footballer. He’s played some really good footy. He’s got an air of confidence about him . . . he’s assured of his own ability, what he can do, and how. He’s a super athlete – can run all day. I think he enjoys being able to run around and just go head-to-head with his opponents, work them over, and pick up heaps of uncontested possessions. And, he’s learning now to use his body – he’s got a pretty big frame – to get in there, win his own footy, and dish it out to some of the other guys as well. Loves a goal, too, does Brandon.”
Deledio on Vlastuin
“I haven’t seen a first-year guy come in and play with such composure as Nick has. His hardness is something that’s really impressive about him. He doesn’t say a lot when he’s around here. I nicknamed him “Rowdy” when he first came down here, because you wouldn’t get boo out of him – just head down, bum up, do the hard work. I’m super-impressed by him and think he’s a future leader of the Club.”
