Speedy Richmond utility Matt White believes the Tigers will be stung into action against Gold Coast at Cairns next Saturday following last weekend’s disappointing 62-point loss to North Melbourne, which broke a sequence of four consecutive wins.
“It was really disappointing the way we went about it after the last four weeks of footy, where we were playing well,” White said.
“It just seemed that everything went their (North’s) way. When it rained, it poured for them.
“We just couldn’t get our hands on the footy to start with, we were beaten in a lot of contests, and they just somehow always ended up with a goal . . .
“We’ll go through the game on Monday, find what we did wrong and how we can fix that up. Then we’ll look at Gold Coast, probably on Tuesday. We’ll move on as soon as we possibly can to tackle them head on.
“We’re going to come out pretty strongly, I dare say . . .”
White continued his influential form as Richmond’s substitute player against the Kangaroos, albeit with significantly more game time on this occasion.
He came onto the ground in the first quarter, after talented young Tiger Brandon Ellis was concussed, and finished with 19 possessions, including a couple of goals, to be among the team’s best players.
“I had a tough job trying to run around with ‘Boomer’ (Brent Harvey) at stages, but I was able to hit the scoreboard a couple of times, which was nice,” White said.
“It was a bit different for me playing almost three and a half quarters, compared to a quarter and a half, so my body’s definitely sore, but I’m looking forward to next week up in Cairns.”
