No player in Richmond’s history has had a bigger impact, in such a short space of time, than Ian Stewart.
Five seasons and 78 games (1971-75) with Richmond, after crossing from St Kilda in a sensational swap with Bill Barrot at the end of 1970, netted him a Brownlow Medal, a Club Best and Fairest, and a premiership.
His list of honours at Tigerland continued long after his retirement, with selection in Richmond’s Team of the Century in 1999.
Now, four decades after hanging up his boots, Ian Stewart is about to receive another major accolade from his adopted league club.
On Saturday, June 15 at the Crown Palladium, Stewart will be one of four inductees at Richmond’s 2013 Hall of Fame Dinner.
For those who had the pleasure of watching ‘Stewie’ weave his magic in the centre for the Tigers throughout those glory days of the 1970s (and those who have heard the stories of how brilliant he was), his induction into the Club’s Hall of Fame will add a special flavour to this prestigious occasion.
Join Club greats, past and present, as we induct the newest members into Richmond’s Hall of Fame.
