Experienced Richmond key defender Troy Chaplin has given his finals-inexperienced teammates an insight into what to expect when they line up for Sunday’s blockbuster elimination final against Carlton at the MCG.

Chaplin, who played in five finals during his 140-game league career at Port Adelaide, including the 2007 Grand Final against Geelong, before joining the Tigers as a restricted free agent late last year, told Triple M’s “Rush Hour” that it’s going to be “pretty hot early”.

“The intensity goes up another notch,” Chaplin said.

“It’s pretty similar to Round 1 (Richmond v Carlton), I reckon.

“This is probably as big a crowd we’re going to get this week as you would in a Grand Final.  There’s probably going to be 90,000 there.

“You’ve just got to enjoy the week and soak it up.

“None of these boys have played in one before, so it’s going to be all new to them and you don’t want to get too rattled by it.

“They’re looking forward to it and I think all ‘Tigs’ supporters are too.”
