The crowd for this Saturday afternoon's Richmond v Collingwood blockbuster at the MCG shapes as the biggest for a match between these two clubs since the 1980 Grand Final.
That '80 Grand Final attendance was 113,461 and, since then, the only time a Richmond and Collingwood meeting has attracted more than 80,000 spectators, was in Round 19, 1983 at the 'G', when Tiger great Kevin Bartlett became the first player in league football history to reach the 400-game milestone, in front of a crowd of 81,966.

The biggest-ever attendance at a Richmond-Collingwood home-and-away game was on Anzac Day, in Round 4, 1977, when Tommy Hafey coached against the Tigers for the first time. That clash drew a crowd of 92,436.
