Star Richmond playmaker Shane Edwards has provided an insight into the team’s impressive wet-weather form.

The latest example of the Tigers’ expertise in soggy conditions occurred in last Saturday night’s clash with Melbourne at the MCG.

They held a slender three-point lead at half-time, but when the rain arrived, and set in during the second half, it became a different game altogether.

Richmond responded superbly, slamming on 5.4 to 1.2 in the third quarter and going on to record a comfortable 33-point win.

The Tigers’ players, with Edwards right at the forefront, again proved their adeptness with handling the slippery ball and they forced numerous opposition turnovers through the application of trademark intense pressure.

“If you can play dry-weather footy in the wet, it’s a big advantage. And just doing the fundamentals right, not trying to over-use it,” Edwards told Channel Seven.

“That’s what we try and do – the fundamentals and the basics as well as we can in the wet.

“I think, tonight, we weren’t bad at it.”
