Richmond’s No. 1 ruckman Ivan Maric could be a weapon up forward for the Tigers at times this season . . .

That’s the opinion of Tiger goalkicking great, Matthew Richardson, who feels Maric has the necessary attributes to cause big headaches for opposition backlines.

“The thing I liked most about his game last Saturday against the Western Bulldogs (Richmond’s final pre-season hit-out) was the three goals he kicked,” Richardson said on this week’s episode of the Club’s official podcast “Talking Tigers”.

“When you’ve got a ruckman who can go forward and rest, take marks and kick goals, it adds another dimension to your game and to your team.

“Look, he’s going to ruck 80% of the game, but if he can go forward and take two or three marks, he’s not going to miss because he looks to be a very reliable shot for goal.

“He’s a huge man and a great contested mark.  So, if he can go and rest deep in the forward line, he’s certainly capable of taking a few grabs and kicking around 30 goals for the year.”
