Troy Chaplin’s lead in the Rumble in the Jungle challenge series on Roar Vision has evaporated, thanks to an inept soccer goalkicking performance by stand-in participant Matthew Richardson.
Chaplin was nursing a sore calf when the episode was shot earlier this year, and had ‘Richo’ fill in for him as fellow challengers Chris Newman, Brett Deledio and Jack Riewoldt tried to shoot penalty kicks past Melbourne Victory’s number one keeper, Nathan Coe.
Coe, who will stand in goals for Victory against Liverpool this week, forced a playoff between Deledio and Riewoldt, while Richardson failed with his three attempts at goal, leaving Chaplin in last place.
Deledio went on to win the challenge, making it two wins on the trot and moving him into a share of first place with Chaplin on 30 points.
Newman is a further four points behind on 26, while Riewoldt moved to within six points of the lead, on 24.
With two challenges remaining, it’s anyone’s guest who will be crowned the ‘King of the Jungle’.
The next sporting pursuit is netball, where the players test their skills under the watchful eyes of Melbourne Vixens trio Bianca Chatfield, Tegan Caldwell and Geva Mentor.
It will be available to watch at richmondfc.com.au in two weeks.
The following week, it’s the final challenge, NRL, where the players will take aim at a different set of big sticks.
