Richmond goalkicking great Matthew Richardson has tipped Tiger midfielder Brett Deledio to be leading the 2013 Jack Dyer Medal at the halfway point of the season.
Richardson has watched Richmond closely this year, and rates Deledio as the most consistent performer so far.
He has predicted Dustin Martin to be in second place after 13 rounds, with underrated midfielder Daniel Jackson in third place.
Rebounding defender Bachar Houli, and spearhead Jack Riewoldt round out Richo’s top five.
He explains his selections below:
5 – Jack Riewoldt
Top five in score involvements in the AFL, second in the Coleman Medal, and playing a really team-oriented game.
4 – Bachar Houli
Having an outstanding year with his run and ball use off half-back. I reckon he’s playing the best football of his AFL career at the moment.
3 – Daniel Jackson
He mightn’t be on the B&F radar of a few people, but if you talk to the Tiger coaches, he’s right up there. Even in his run-with roles, always gets his 20-25 touches per game.
2 – Dustin Martin
Another Tiger having the best year of his league career. Has found a good level of consistency, is kicking goals, and I’m just loving the way he’s going about it.
1 – Brett Deledio
Is already a dual Jack Dyer Medallist, and he may well be headed for a third in 2013 with the influence he’s had on many games so far this season.
