Children affected by traumatic events and violent circumstances had their spirits lifted at the second annual The Alannah and Madeline Foundation (AMF) Christmas Party at the ME Bank Centre last Saturday (December 13).
Children and families from the Foundation’s ‘Children Ahead’ program were treated to a morning of fun and games, including a footy clinic, face-painting, balloonists and entertainment by mascots Buddy Bear, Tiger Stripes, and Santa Claus. Each child was given a Christmas gifts, generously donated by Richmond members and fans.
Richmond partner Décor generously contributed products from its kids range, including Richmond drink bottles, frosty mugs, lickety sips and icestix.
Tiger players Matt Dea, Shaun Grigg, Dustin Martin and Nathan Foley were on hand to hand out the presents, and coordinate footy activities.
“What a special day for all of us to share,” said Jasmine Bentley, Case Worker for The Foundation’s Children Ahead Program.
“It was such a special time for families to set aside all the hardship and challenges of the year, to enjoy a morning of activities, autographs, games, laughing, hanging out with their sports heroes, delicious food and piles of generously donated presents.
“The smiles and enthusiasm of the children will be a treasured memory for us as their case workers. We are so grateful to the Richmond Football Club for putting on such a magical and fun-filled day for the children who need to feel cared for the most.”
