Former Geelong midfielder Taylor Hunt officially started life at his new football home on Monday, when Richmond’s older players returned to the ME Bank Centre, Punt Road Oval, for pre-season training.

Hunt joined Richmond as a free agent in early November, following a 63-game career in six seasons with Geelong.

The Tigers believe Hunt has the necessary attributes to be a valuable acquisition for them.

“We think he’ll add to that midfield depth we’ve been talking about all the way through the trade period, and now the draft,” Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson, said on Roar Vision’s ‘Bingle Recruitment Zone’ show this week.

“He brings some genuine speed, which I think will be important for us.”

“Apart from the midfield, he could spend some time across half-back.  But he’s also demonstrated he can tag, and go forward and kick goals,” Richardson said.

“I think the capacity for us to kick some running goals, and have somebody, who can break the lines, like he does, that’s where we saw some real upside in him and his footy . . .

“We’re looking forward to him coming in and having an impact.

“He seems an outstanding character as well, and I think he’ll fit in really quickly.”
