Richmond has secured third place in the 2014 Virgin Australia Film Festival Competition, winning a prize of 30 return economy flights to any short-haul international destination, flying Virgin Australia.
Ten AFL clubs entered the competition by submitting a short film with the theme Everything’s Possible.
Richmond’s film entry was the story of Jake King meeting young Tiger fan Nate Anderson earlier in the year.
The emotional video captured the spirit of young Nate from Perth, who travelled to Melbourne on a special trip with his family to watch the Tigers play at Etihad Stadium, meeting Richmond players and spending time with King.
The unique experience – rewarding for Nate, King and touching the entire AFL community, demonstrated the impact that the AFL and its players could make in the community.
King, who recently retired from the game, won the David Mandie Community Leadership award at the Jack Dyer Medal night, recognising the contribution he made to Nate and his family.
Port Adelaide Football Club is the overall winner of the competition, with the Adelaide Crows placing second.
