When Bachar Houli arrived at Richmond at the end of 2010, the Club saw him as a valuable on-field asset.

But the 23-year-old, entering his second season with the Tigers, has proved just as important off the field - for the Club’s membership department.

In 2011, Houli referred about 70 of his family and friends as Tiger members, as part of ‘Operation 10,000’.

This year, he has already reached triple figures, referring his 100th member early this week.

Nearly all of Houli’s recently-signed 2012 members gathered at Al-Taqwa College in Truganina on Monday to pose for a photo, which featured on the front page of The Age newspaper today.

Richmond confirmed its 40,000th member over the Labor Day long weekend, and the Club is well on track to reach its target of 50,000.

The current membership figure is about 2500 ahead of the same time last year.
