Richmond’s Physical Performance Manager, Peter Burge, says the Tigers are on the Sunshine Coast for pre-season camp "to train, and train hard".
The Tigers arrived in Twin Waters on Sunday afternoon and were put through their first training session on Monday morning.
“We’re really replicating a normal week from Melbourne up here on the Sunshine Coast,” Burge said.
“It was a long session, but this time of year footy sessions are replicating what a game looks like, so we’ve been out here for a couple of hours… and the boys have done a good job.”
Burge said the purpose of the week-long camp was to break up the pre-season block from January to March.
“Outside of a normal training week, we’ve got a couple of things planned for them – a couple of little fun things,” he said.
“We’re really here to train, and train hard, but we’re also here to spend some time with each other and have a little bit of fun as well."
With several new faces at the Club, across coaching staff and playing personnel, Burge said the camp provided an opportunity for the group to gel.
“That’s probably the most important thing, we’ve got new players at the Club and (it’s) a real bonding experience,” he said.
“You spend every minute of every day with each other on these camps, so it’s a great opportunity for people to get that deeper knowledge of each other and work together.”
