RICHMOND midfielder Trent Cotchin says the arm he injured at the weekend is fine and he'll play against Greater Western Sydney this Saturday.

Cotchin received a knock just above his elbow, in the area where a tendon connects the bicep to the forearm, during the second quarter of the Tigers' 12-point loss to Fremantle at the MCG last Saturday.

"I just went to tackle and somehow collided with [Hayden] Ballantyne's body in a way that made my arm go half-dead," he said.

"It was really painful. I wasn't sure what was wrong with it.

"I thought it was a cork initially - because I had no strength, I was a bit worried about it.

"But once it settled and I got back into the swing of things it started to come alive again.

"It felt OK towards the end of the game."

Cotchin was Richmond's best player against Fremantle. He had 30 disposals and nine clearances in a continuation of the form that has marked him as the outstanding Tiger this season.

When asked whether he was happy with his form, Cotchin said he was "doing OK".

He said the Tigers failed to attack the ball hard enough against Fremantle, but they hoped to atone against the Giants at Skoda Stadium.

"They're a really good contested team," he said of the Giants.

"It's going to be pretty tough. We've got to make sure we're harder at the contest, unlike our performance last week."

The Giants had the bye at the weekend. Their one victory for the season was over Gold Coast in round seven, but they've impressed with their willingness in most matches.

Richmond had come off four victories in five weeks - against Port Adelaide, Sydney Swans, Hawthorn and St Kilda - before falling against Fremantle.

They are in 11th position with a 5-6 record and need to defeat the Giants to enhance their hopes of a final-eight berth.

The Tigers' bye is in round 13.

Cotchin was speaking at the ME Bank Centre during Richmond's co-promotion with Australia's rugby union team, the Wallabies, who are to play Wales at Etihad Stadium this Saturday.
