Talented Richmond playmaker Shane Edwards has followed up winning the Yiooken Award for best-on-ground in last Saturday night’s ‘Dreamtime at the G’ victory over Essendon with maximum Round 11 coaches’ votes.
Edwards, who picked up an AFL career-high 31 disposals, including a team-high seven inside-50s, five clearances, a game-high three goal assists and two goals, received 10 votes from rival coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and John Worsfold (Essendon) in the prestigious AFLCA Player of the Year award for Round 11.
The Tigers’ brilliant key defender Alex Rance was given six votes for another top-class exhibition – 18 disposals, an equal game-high 12 intercepts, equal game-high nine marks and five rebound-50s.
Another quality Tiger backman in Nick Vlastuin polled five votes after finishing the match with 17 disposals, 10 intercepts, eight marks and three rebound-50s.
Robust Richmond forward Josh Caddy’s powerful four-goal performance netted him four votes, while dynamic Tigers midfielder Dustin Martin collected two votes as reward for his 28-disposal display, which included a team-high seven clearances, an equal game-high five centre clearances and nine score involvements.
