If Marlion Pickett’s fairytale debut game of AFL football in last year’s Grand Final hadn’t been so stunning, he surely would have received more plaudits for his second appearance with Richmond, against Carlton in last Thursday night’s season-opener.
Pickett may not have been in the best few players on the ground, as he was in the Tigers’ Grand Final demolition of Greater Western Sydney, but he was still impressive.
He finished the match with 14 disposals, five inside-50s, six score involvements and five tackles.
His innate ability to glide across the turf and through on-field traffic, to set up opportunities for teammates, was extremely appealing.
It’s certainly whet the appetite of the Tiger Army watching via television, who will be eagerly anticipating revelling in much more Marlion magic.
