Richmond president Peggy O’Neal has outlined the philosophy that ensures the Club continues to steer the course, and isn’t tempted to take a ride on league football’s emotional rollercoaster.
In a lengthy interview on SEN’s ‘Crunch Time’, before last Saturday’s clash with GWS, O’Neal told the show’s panel members Dermott Brereton, Michael Voss, Anthony Hudson and Mark Robinson, that the Tigers would not deviate from the path they are on in their quest for sustained success.
“All of us are really keen and passionate about the Club. It’s an emotional sort of sport . . . it’s emotion that’s often driven by what the media has to say, and so you just sort of take it in stride,” O’Neal said.

“We listen, we, as a club, feel the pain of all the fans, when we’re not doing very well. But it’s been business as usual.
“We have to maintain a collective, calm approach to things and go through it in a methodical way. We can’t make kneejerk reaction, and we’re not that kind of organisation anymore.
“One of the things that good clubs do is they remain stable . . . they continue to question themselves and make sure they’re doing the right thing.
“If you’re always looking to make drastic changes, you’re always starting over, and you don’t build stability.
“You don’t build great teams by starting over all the time.”
