“It’s important to have quality, experienced players on our list, particularly when we have a forward group that is still developing,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.
“We are always looking at ways to improve our depth across the list, and Aaron has proven himself as an accomplished forward at AFL level.
“We believe he will provide us with a different option, as a mid-sized forward, to complement the likes of Jack Riewoldt and Ty Vickery.”
Edwards played 78 games for North Melbourne over six seasons and kicked 122 goals.
His best season with the Roos was in 2011, when he played 19 games and booted 36 goals.
In 2012, he kicked 17 goals in nine games, averaging 11 disposals and five marks per match.
