With the 2012 AFL Dreamteam competition opening tomorrow, we complete our preview of the Richmond playing list.
Brett O’Hanlon
Price: $98,700 Position: Forward Summary: The left-footed goal sneak was the first pick in the 2011 Pre-Season Draft, and walked straight onto the senior list for the Tigers, which is important to his Dreamteam value, as he won’t have to wait for others to go down injured to see some game time. He’s very talented over head and can kick it a mile.
Summary: Coach Damien Hardwick has already earmarked Post for a regular defensive role, and at a cheap price of only $206,500 he could be a great value pick for your team. Has trimmed down and come back with some serious fire in the belly, we’re looking forward to seeing the “Post Man” deliver in 2012. His dual position status is also a bonus.
Summary: Rance had a breakout year on the field, as he increased his average from 51.8 in his first two seasons, to 72 in his third. Had solid scores of 118, 96, 95 and 91 to prove that he can rack up some serious points, often getting loose in the backline. Look for him to get a lot of game time in 2012, which should lead to an increase in output.
Summary: Finished the season third overall in the AFL for total goals, and second in goals contributed, proving he doesn’t just kick them, but also can dish them off. Had a bit of a dip in 2011 due to injuries throughout the season, but still bobbed up with two efforts of 100 or more. At full health, he is a bargain at this price.
Summary: The workhorse of the Tiger midfield, Tuck has been a consistent point scorer ever since he entered the league. His 2011 output is deceiving, as he started a few games as the sub, but the games that he started on the ground produced solid scores of 112, 108 and 96.
Summary: Had a breakout year in 2011, including career highs in possessions, kicks, marks and goals. Has looked good in the pre-season so far, and looks likely to continue the improvement in 2012. It appears he will play the majority of his time up forward, while pinch-hitting in the ruck, providing Dreamteamers with extra value.
Summary: A few late season heroics earned him the nickname of the ‘super sub’. The 23-year-old would like to make himself a permanent fixture of the 22 each week. If pre-season form is anything to go by, at his price he will be one to watch.
Summary: Had a frustrating middle of 2011, but produced decent scores at either end of the season. Has been marked as a midfielder, but could rotate up forward as well, and he has shown he can kick goals.
