Richmond CEO Brendon Gale has welcomed the 2013 fixture, describing it as positive from a football and commercial perspective.

The AFL released the draw today, which includes a number of big ticket items for the Tigers.

“Overall, we are pleased with the 2013 fixture.  We acknowledge that the fixture is a complex undertaking, and overall, we are satisfied with the outcome,” Gale said.

“We were keen to maintain our season-opening fixture against Carlton.  It launches the season in football’s heartland and has grown into one of the biggest matches of the season.

“Playing 13 games at the MCG, including nine home games, is also something that will please our fans, who have a clear preference to watch the Tigers at the home of football.

The Tigers will travel north to Cairns for the third consecutive year to play host to Gold Coast, in Round 16.

“We play the last of our three home games in Cairns this year, and we look forward to again playing in front of our Queensland supporters, and giving them something to smile about this year,” Gale said.
