Richmond has three players in the 2015 All-Australian team, which was announced tonight.
Alex Rance, Jack Riewoldt and Brett Deledio have each gained All-Australian selection for the second time in their AFL careers.
Rance, who was a first-time All-Australian in 2014, has been named at full-back in the star-studded 2015 line-up following an outstanding season in defence for the Tigers.
The 25-year-old played all 23 of Richmond’s games this season, averaging 17.4 disposals, 5.9 marks and 3.0 tackles per match.
He was ranked 11th in the competition for rebound-50s and No. 1 in one percenters.
His ability to continually win the ball back for the team and launch counter attacks, while still maintaining a tight rein on his opponent, earned him a widespread reputation as the best key defender in the competition.
Riewoldt, an All-Australian representative previously in 2010 (at full-forward), is the side’s centre half-forward this time around.
He averaged 13.0 disposals and 6.3 marks per game this season and kicked 54 goals.
It was the sixth year in-a-row that Riewoldt had managed to score 50 goals or more, which is a feat no other player in Tigerland history has achieved.
Riewoldt, 26, was ranked third in the competition for marks inside-50, sixth in contested marks, sixth in goals and eighth in goal assists.
His creative work further up the ground was especially eye-catching this season.
Deledio has followed up his inaugural All-Australian selection in 2012, with a place on the interchange bench in this year’s team.
The talented Tiger playmaker averaged 21.6 disposals and 5.9 marks in the 2015 season and finished with 27 goals.
He was one of just 10 players throughout the competition to average 20-plus disposals, along with a goal a game, which further underlines his class and overall importance to the Richmond side.
His move to a permanent high half-forward role (and just an occasional stint in the midfield), has provided the Tigers with a major boost.
